Game: One Piece
Set: Emperors in the New World (OP-09)
Card: Nico Robin (Leader)
What makes it special? Normally, when a player takes damage in a game of One Piece, they are allowed to check the bottom of their card for a "Trigger" effect. These Triggers can turn the tide of battle by offering the attacked player a chance to heal damage, control or knock out the attacker's cards, or generate resources. Nico Robin's [Banish] effect, however, completely blocks Trigger effects from activating. This means that any card Nico Robin "trashes" is removed from play without any repercussions. This [Banish] ability, along with her secondary ability to farm DON!! cards, made Nico Robin a very powerful Leader card in Purple and Yellow decks.
Did you know? As of October 2026, several One Piece cards, including standard units and Leaders, have [Banish] as either a temporary or permanent effect. Out of these cards, four of them are part of the Straw Hat Crew. These four are Nico Robin, Roronoa Zoro, O-Nami, and Monkey D. Luffy.
