Nearly 1,200 comics that are certified by CGC® are available in an upcoming auction series hosted by Ewbank’s Auctions, beginning with a sale of the first 117 books on October 22, 2026. The live auction begins at 2 p.m. BST (9 a.m. EDT).

“Ewbank’s is thrilled to present an exceptional collection of over 100 CGC-graded comics, bringing together some of the most iconic characters, covers, and key issues in comics,” said Thomas Francis-Duma, Head of Comics at Ewbank's. “Carefully assembled from a number of discerning private collections, the sale represents the most impressive dedicated CGC comic auction we have ever offered, and the strongest of its kind ever presented in the UK.”
While there are many consigned sellers in this auction series, many of the books come entirely from a single, unnamed seller, who collected mostly Iron Man, and his daughter who enjoyed collecting titles such as Batman and Venom. The collection also includes many CGC Signature Series books, featuring signatures from creators such as Stan Lee, Jim Shooter, and more!
Among the comics featured in this sale is an Amazing Spider-Man #129 graded CGC 9.2. This issue sees Spider-Man caught in the crosshairs of the Punisher's lethal brand of justice as they clash over their differing ideologies on crime-fighting. The comic's intense action and moral complexity set the stage for future encounters between these two formidable characters, establishing the Punisher as a significant figure in the Spider-Man mythos and the wider Marvel Universe. The pair crossed paths on screen for the first time this year in the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Also available is a Tales of Suspense #40 graded CGC 9.0. This Silver Age key issue by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Steve Ditko, and Jack Kirby features the second appearance of Iron Man, and the first appearance of his classic gold armor. In the previous issue, weapons manufacturer Tony Stark is injured and captured in Vietnam. He secretly creates an iron suit to help him escape and become Iron Man. Iron Man was a founding member of the Avengers in 1963 and continued to appear in Tales of Suspense until the series shifted its attention to Captain America in 1968, when Iron Man began his own comic book series.
“Offering this collection through Ewbank’s is not simply the sale of a group of comics,” said one of the sellers. “It is the passing on of stories that have accompanied me through my own pursuit of success and helped me express the values I hope to leave with my daughter.”
