CSG Celebrates National Get Over It Day

Some sports moments are too good — or bad — to let go.

Do you have that one game or play you just can’t get over? It could be months, weeks or even years since it happened, but it’s the one sports moment you constantly think about. From missed catches to game-winning hits, these are the jaw-dropping moments that the experts at Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG®) can’t seem to forget (whether they want to or not).

Just can’t let go

Dez Bryant

Was it a catch? According to NFL rules, we’re still not sure…

Jeffrey Maier

Before there were replays and challenges, Jeffrey Maier caught a Derek Jeter homerun that well… might not have gone out of the park.

Chris Webber

Michigan’s Fab Five was destined for a National Championship, until Chris Webber infamously called a timeout with 11 seconds left in the game — when his team did not have any remaining. This resulted in a technical foul that effectively clinched the game for UNC.

2001 World Series Game 7

With September 11 devastating NYC only weeks earlier, it seemed like destiny for the New York Yankees to bring a championship to an ailing city. Luis Gonzalez had other plans.

Hulkamaniac

After an unsuccessful body slam attempt by Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant fell on top of him. Hogan kicked out at two, but the referee continued to make the three-count. It was revealed that the "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase had hired the referee Earl Hebner's twin brother Dave to cheat "The Hulkster." Andre would proceed to hand the belt over to DiBiase.

Alec Martinez

Twenty years since the New York Rangers lifted the Stanley Cup, the stars were aligned on Broadway. Alec Martinez and the Los Angeles Kings made sure to secure their second Cup.

Steve Bartman

The Curse of the Goat struck again in 2003, when the Marlins’ Luis Castillo hit a fly ball into foul territory. Moises Alou attempted to make the catch, but Cubs fan Steve Bartman deflected it, sealing the fate of the Cubs season.

Helmet Catch

The ultimate battle of David and Goliath, the New York Giants came out on top against the 18-0 undefeated New England Patriots all thanks to their back-up wide receiver, David Tyree.
