Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG®) knows that football card collectors dig quarterbacks. Just look at the numbers in the CSG Population Report.
Wide receivers? They’re fine — everybody loves themselves a good Jerry Rice card. Running backs are also okay — nobody’s going to turn down a Walter Payton rookie somethin’ somethin’. But QBs rule overall.
It’s understandable because quarterback is arguably the most important position, not just in football but in all of sports. Also, the signal caller is almost always the face of the franchise, so if you have the option to collect either Justin Herbert or Austin Ekeler, you’re probably going with Herbert.
The 2022 NFL season kicks off on Thursday, which had COLLECT THIS! host Alan Goldsher wondering which quarterbacks are poised to amp up their value among collectors. On the NFL season preview, Alan discusses what we could be seeing in the hobby from the likes of Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Justin Fields.
New episodes of CSG’s sports card and collectibles podcast Collect This! will drop every Thursday, and can be heard on Apple, Spotify and all major podcast platforms. For more information, write CollectThis@csgcards.com.
