Things are heating up on the home video collecting scene! Two groups of CGC-certified videocassettes realized five-figure prices in recent private sales brokered by Nostalgix. The separate deals took place in early October 2026.
A group of six early Pokémon VHS tapes that include pre-recorded episodes of the Indigo League anime sold for an impressive $85,000 in the first private sale, which took place on October 13, 2026. The six CGC-certified videocassettes included:
a sealed Pokémon: The Mystery of Mount Moon (1998) graded CGC 9.4 A+
a sealed Pokémon: Thunder Shock! (1998) graded CGC 9.6 A
a sealed Pokémon: Charizard!! (1998) graded CGC 9.6 A+
a sealed Pokémon: I Choose You! Pikachu! (1998) graded CGC 9.6 A+
a sealed Pokémon: The Sisters of Cerulean City (1998) graded CGC 9.6 A+
a sealed Pokémon: Poké-Friends (1998) graded CGC 9.8 A+

Each of the six Pokémon videocassettes are pedigreed to the Dubai Collection, a prestigious collection consisting of hundreds of retro video games and home video collectibles assembled by a duo of collectors from Dubai. The two collectors started assembling their collection during the COVID-19 pandemic, first focusing on video games and then expanding into home video collecting. CGC has certified hundreds of video games and home video collectibles from the Dubai Collection, including several that have realized high prices on the secondary market, including this Pokémon VHS set.
Additionally, a collection of four Rocky movies on VHS, also certified by CGC, realized $60,000 in another private sale held through Nostalgix. The Rocky films (especially Rocky and Rocky II) are considered some of the greatest sports films of all time, while the entire series is considered a cultural phenomenon among American film enthusiasts. The sale included the following videocassettes:
a sealed Rocky, Century Fox Video (1982) graded CGC 9.4 B+
a sealed Rocky II, Century Fox Video (1982) graded CGC 9.4 A+
a sealed Rocky III, CBS / Fox Video (1982) graded CGC 9.2 A+
a sealed Rocky IV, CBS / Fox Video (1986) graded CGC 9.8 A++

Written by Sylvester Stallone and directed by John G. Avildsen (Rocky) and Stallone (Rocky II to IV), the initial four movies in the franchise were released in the 1970s and 1980s. They explore the journey of fictional boxer Rocky Balboa (played by Stallone himself) as he rises to stardom and self-worth through multiple fights and hardships, both inside and outside the ring. Finding a near-complete set today of the original Rocky movies on VHS in sealed and excellent condition is a tough feat, which contributed to the set's impressive sale price.
